Food & Beverage Safety & Analytics: Ensuring Quality from Farm to Fork

In an era where consumer expectations for food safety are at an all-time high, ensuring quality in the food and beverage sector has become non-negotiable. India’s food safety testing market, valued at USD 14.1 billion in 2023, is projected to grow at a robust CAGR of 10.65% during 2024- 2028, driven by increased consumer awareness, stricter regulatory norms, and technological advancements. From automated detection systems to advanced calibration tools, companies are revolutionizing how food safety is managed, reinforcing the industry's expansion.

Despite these advancements, food safety remains a significant challenge in India. According to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), only about 20% of eateries in the country possess a valid food safety license, highlighting the need for stricter compliance and monitoring. In response, FSSAI has initiated nationwide surveillance on various food items, including dairy products, spices, and fortified rice, to ensure adherence to safety standards. Additionally, states and union territories have been urged to enhance surveillance of warehouses and facilities used by e-commerce platforms to bolster food safety, especially ahead of peak tourist seasons.

To further strengthen food safety infrastructure, FSSAI has introduced the "Food Safety on Wheels" initiative, deploying mobile food testing laboratories across regions to facilitate on-the-spot testing and awareness programs. These mobile labs play a crucial role in conducting surveillance, educating consumers, and training food business operators, thereby reinforcing India’s food safety framework.

Recognizing the pivotal role of safety and analytics in the food industry, Anuga FoodTec India 2025 is bringing together global leaders and innovators under one roof to showcase cutting-edge solutions in food and beverage safety and analytics.
